2008 marks the fifth year of the Moab Studio Tour, a unique and free event designed to bring artist and art-lover together in the spaces where the art is born. Fifteen of Moab’s premier artists are participating in the fall tour, held September 6th and 7th in conjunction with the Moab Music Festival.

Moab, Utah and its grandeur have attracted artists for thousands of years.  Pictographs and petroglyphs on canyon walls attest to the drive within all humans to express something of themselves and the land they live in.  This yearning to express and share continues today among Moab’s many artists.

Area artists have drawn their inspiration from the natural beauty of canyon walls, desert flora and fauna, red rock pinnacles and arches, as well as the exciting human history of the Colorado Plateau. This includes the exploits of early adventurers, Native American cultures, and the lore of the cowboy.  Artists are also inspired by the enthusiasm of river runners, mountain bikers, climbers, jeepers and other modern day outdoor recreationists. You can find it all in Moab during the Studio Tour, and throughout each year.

Moab is steadily growing as an arts destination.  Here you can find fine art galleries and many other commercial businesses that sell and show art by local artists.  We have painters, potters, photographers and sculptors.  Moab also has dance, drama, music and a host of other art forms.  While you can find an amazing array of art by wandering the greater downtown area, the studio tour offers you the rare opportunity to see some of Moab’s artists in their natural habitat.  And we hope you will!

Moab welcomes visitors from around the world and is able to accommodate all kinds of travelers.   You can enjoy the comforts of the many area motels and resorts, park your RV in one of the conveniently located area RV parks, or camp out in the national parks (Arches and Canyonlands), Dead Horse Point State Park, or one of the local private or BLM campgrounds. There are dozens of restaurants to satisfy any palette and other stores to satisfy your traveling needs.
